Welcome to A-vs-C and thanks for your interest. It is interesting
that you have noted the same phenomenon. It tends to be ignored
here but it has been apparent to me for many many years and I
have visited such institutions used to contain these sick people.
Today we have the benefit of drugs to help with the relief of the
worst symtoms but many remain effected for life.

Please do not be offended with my direct answer to your question:

"Is there any clue in those accounts to prove the reality of the
experience?"

That which does not exist in fact cannot in fact be proven.
Heaven and Hell are notional concepts only, in the mind of
the believer as it is with god/s.
