Senator Obama wants to give every household $1000 to be funded from
"windfall" oil company profits. According to the Census Bureau, there
were 114 + million households in the US in 2006. That means paying
out better than $114 billion ("with a B") dollars of oil company
money. The Big Five oil companies had $118 billion in total profits
in 2006. That would leave $4 billion to split between the five
companies. That doesn't even come close to the collective $30 billion
those companies made in 2002 when no one was moaning about windfall
profits? What about those retirees who are counting on their
ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, Conoco Phillips or Chevron stock to generate
dividend income for them to live on?
Do you *want* big government micro-managing *your* company to this
degree?
